West Ham United U21s duo Lewis Orford and Kamarai Swyer have both been shortlisted for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for April.
It is the third time this season that two West Ham players have been nominated in the same month. Both Orford and Swyer were directly involved in all three of the team’s goals across April’s regular season fixtures.
Orford netted a brace in their defeat to Crystal Palace, with Swyer providing the assist on both occasions. They then reversed roles in the 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough, with Orford turning provider and Swyer getting on the scoresheet.

The pair were also involved in the three goals which secured the young Hammers' spot in the Premier League 2 quarter-finals, with Orford scoring the second and Swyer assisting the first and final goals in their 3-1 round of 16 win over Sunderland.
The nomination marks Orford’s third of the season. During a great year of progress for the 19-year-old, the U21s vice-captain signed a new five-year contract, made his senior debut in the Premier League, and has contributed five goals and ten assists in all competitions while leading the side to back-to-back Premier League 2 quarter-final appearances.
Swyer, nominated for the first time, has also enjoyed a standout campaign. The winger has tallied the most direct goal involvements for the U21s this season with eight goals and ten assists, consistently playing a key role in the young Hammers’ attacking play.
They are joined on April’s shortlist by Braiden Graham (Everton), Garang Kuol (Newcastle United), Donnell McNeilly (Chelsea), Divin Mubama (Manchester City), Lewis Payne (Southampton), and Jack Thompson (Nottingham Forest).
The Premier League Football Development Panel selected the nominees and will choose the winner, to be announced later this week.
