Members of the West Ham United squad discuss their main hobbies away from the football pitch, explaining what sparked their interest and advising how fellow Hammers can get involved. Today, defender Jean-Clair Todibo shares his love for Manga...
What is your main hobby or interest outside of football?
I like to read Manga, such as Naruto and One Piece, which are comics or graphic novels that originate from Japan.
How did you get into it?
It’s something that came to me really late in life because, growing up, I hated reading, but now I just find pleasure in reading Manga.

What do you like about it?
I think because there are stories and also images in the book, it makes it a lot different.
You can learn a lot of things in Manga, or you can just enjoy the story. I love it.
Do you do it on your own or with others?
It’s something I do myself every day, and it makes me very happy.

How much time do you spend on it outside of football?
It depends! Sometimes I can just be there and read for three or four hours.
How much would you recommend it to people who aren’t familiar with it?
I would recommend Manga a lot, but I understand some people, like me when I was younger, don't like to read.
I just find it a good way for me to read and believe it's good for the mind.
Some people prefer big books and to read about science fiction or different things. I think everyone is different.
My advice would be to buy a Manga book, and I think you will really enjoy it.
