Anouk Denton

Internationals | Denton set for first full camp with the Lionesses

West Ham United women’s team defender Anouk Denton has been called up by England, in what will be her first full camp with the senior squad, for their friendlies during the upcoming international break.

The versatile full-back, who has started every Barclays Women’s Super League game for the Hammers this season, received her first senior call-up for the Lionesses midway through the October international window.

After she was pulled aside to speak to manager Sarina Wiegman for the first time, Denton trained with the reigning European champions before travelling with the squad to Derby for their friendly against Australia on Tuesday 28 October at Pride Park.

Since her first call-up, the 22-year-old was awarded Player of the Match against Leicester City before she scored against Everton in our first WSL victory of the season last weekend, and her positive performances in Claret and Blue have once again been recognised by Wiegman and her coaching staff.

Denton will hope to make her senior debut across the November international window, becoming the first Hammer to play for the Lionesses since Rachel Daly, as England take part in two Homecoming Series friendlies.

The first is against China at Wembley on Saturday 29 November, with kick-off coming at 5.30pm GMT, before the Lionesses host Ghana on Tuesday 2 December at 7pm GMT at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium.
