We are delighted to welcome 32 members of the Belfast Hammers Official Supporters’ Club to London Stadium for Saturday afternoon’s exciting Premier League clash against Burnley.
Ahead of kick-off, we caught up with Chairman and Founder, Peter O’Prey, who brought us up to speed with what the group have been up to over the last year, what they’ve got coming up, and what they’ve got planned this weekend!
The last time we spoke to you was after your 25th anniversary celebrations last year, when you were joined by Hammers legends Steve Lomas and Mark Ward. What have you been up to since then?
“We officially released a book, called ‘The Only Religion Is West Ham: The Belfast Hammers Story’, in December 2024, which I authored with a foreword by Mark Ward. Fans can buy a copy online now.
“Following our anniversary, we enjoyed a visit by Julian Dicks and Mark Ward in April 2025, which was very well attended. We feel these sorts of events keep us close to the history and ethos of West Ham, and it was a roaring success.”
Have your members had much chance to meet up and/or attend matches in the 2025/26 season so far?
“As always, we have members attending most games, and we plan several larger trips throughout the season. Today, we will have 32 people at the game, plus our Season Ticket Holders, so around 40 in total.
“We already have flights and hotels booked for the last game of the season, against Leeds United, and we’re looking at doing another big trip in January.
“In Belfast, we’ve recently moved to Pug Ugly’s Bar for meetings and to watch games. We’re also planning a large trip to meet up with the Dublin Hammers in January, which we’re looking forward to!”
Tell us a bit more about your trip over for Saturday’s Burnley game, then.
“It’s a day return trip this time. We have some members making a weekend of it, but the majority of us will be meeting at Belfast International and then travelling by bus.
“Once we get to Stratford, we will plant ourselves on the Hammers Chat boats near the Aquatic Centre, which is a really enjoyable place to have a drink and something to eat. After that, we’ll be making our way to Block 206, so watch out for the Belfast Hammers flag!
“It’s always great to get everyone together for these big trips. In recent years we’ve increased our membership, with all ages and backgrounds represented, and we’re all really excited for what should be a great day.”
What’s next in the calendar for the Belfast Hammers?
“We have an ‘Evening with Sir Trevor Brooking’ live event coming up at the Malone Hotel on 17 April 2026, which should be really special. The Belfast Hammers are hosting it together with E13 Events, and it’s going to be a great opportunity to hear insights from a huge Club legend. Tickets are available now.”
What’s the best way for fans to keep up with Belfast Hammers, or get involved?
“We’d love to hear from our fellow Irons. Go to whufc.com/belfast-hammers for more information, and links to our Facebook page and email.”
