West Ham United Academy goalkeeper Lanre Awesu has been included in the England U18s squad for their October double header against France at St George’s Park.
Our U18s goalkeeper made his debut for the Young Lions at U17s level last season, when he kept a clean sheet on debut in a 5-0 win over Mexico in Duisburg, where teammate Andre Dike was on the scoresheet.
Awesu received his first call-up to the U18s age group in October, also under Neil Ryan, featuring in their 5-1 victory over Morocco as the Young Lions won all three of their games against Uzbekistan, Morocco and Canada.
Across both age groups, Awesu has earned five caps, keeping three clean sheets and conceding just three goals.
Ryan’s squad will be hosting France with both matches taking place at St George’s Park in Staffordshire on Thursday 9 October at 6pm and Sunday 12 October at 2pm.
