Academy Internationals | Golambeckis earns second call-up to England U19s

West Ham United Academy defender Airidas Golambeckis has been called into the England U19s squad for their October internationals in Marbella.

Our U21s captain had previously represented his parents’ native Lithuania at U16s level before switching his allegiance to England last year and going on to represent the U18s on nine occasions throughout the 2024/25 season.

Now with the U19s, Golambeckis and his England teammates travel to Spain for two international friendlies as they prepare for their UEFA U19 Euro qualifiers, where they have been drawn in group B with Lithuania, Latvia, and teammate Josh Landers’ Scotland.

Will Antwi’s men were unbeaten in their last Spanish camp in September with impressive victories over Ukraine and the Netherlands, as well as a draw against hosts Spain.

Golambeckis featured in all three games, starting the final two fixtures. Only Chelsea’s Shumaira Mheuka played more minutes during the camp than our 17-year-old centre-back.

Our U21s captain was part of a very strong Young Lions side which featured young Premier League stars Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha, Arsenal’s Max Dowman and Fulham’s Josh King.

This time around, Antwi’s men face Belgium on Saturday 11 October at 10am and Wales on Tuesday 14 October with kick-off set for 11am.
