Steve Potts was appointed as a First-Team Coach by Nuno Espírito Santo in October 2025, moving from his role as U21s Assistant Coach at the Academy of Football.
Academy graduate Potts played over 500 matches as a defender and midfielder for West Ham United between 1985 and 2002.
After finishing out his playing career at Dagenham & Redbridge, Potts did ‘The Knowledge’ and became a London Black Cab driver.
He returned to the Hammers in 2011, initially working with players in the Youth Development phase in the U12-U16 age groups.
Since then, he has held a number of important coaching positions, working with players in the Professional Development phase, aged U17-U23, since 2015.
He has worked closely with all the young players who have gone on to play first-team football in recent seasons, including his youngest son Freddie.
