Former Chelmsford City forward Jett Murphy signed for West Ham United in June 2026.
The lifelong Hammers supporter put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract with his boyhood Club, that officially came into effect on 1 July.
Murphy fell in love with football as soon as he first started playing for his local Sunday league team, where he was scouted by Colchester United at the age of 12.
He stayed at the U’s for four years before joining Chelmsford and progressing through their youth ranks, helping them win the 2024/25 National League Alliance Division A title by scoring 22 goals in 20 games.
Following his success in Chelmsford’s academy, Murphy was rewarded with his first-team debut in a 1-0 National League South win at Chippenham Town on 5 April 2025. And it was only a few weeks later that he netted his first goal in senior football, as he got in on the act in a 6-1 victory at Weymouth on 26 April 2025.
Murphy’s scoring form continued into 2025/26, as he notched seven goals in 25 appearances in his maiden full season in senior football. Towards the end of that same campaign, he impressed on trial at the Academy of Football, scoring a brace against Norwich City in the U18 Premier League South.
