Reid recognised in FIFA 18 Team of the Week
Winston Reid’s outstanding performances in West Ham United’s recent Premier League fixtures with Chelsea and Arsenal have been recognised by FIFA 18.
The New Zealand defender was named in the FIFA 18 Team of the Week (TOTW) after helping the Hammers to a 1-0 win over the champions and goalless draw with the Gunners.
Reid, one of five Premier League players named in the starting XI, saw his overall rating rise to 82 and performance stats boosted.
The No2 said his impressive defensive displays were made possible by the hard work put in by the whole team under the guidance of manager David Moyes and his coaching staff.
I think that the defensive improvements have been a combination of hard work and all of us understanding our defensive roles
“Defensively we have tightened up,” he confirmed. “Things have taken time but we’ve always had a good bunch of guys here that have always worked hard for this Club.
“I think that the smaller details have changed, but you also need a bit of luck on your side. You can only do your jobs and give 100 per cent, so I think that the defensive improvements have been a combination of hard work and all of us understanding our defensive roles, which you saw against Arsenal.
“We did our jobs and didn’t over-complicate things. When you play against the so-called better teams in the league you need to make sure that you do the basic things right and I think that we did that.
“We could have won that game, but we got the win against Chelsea, got a good point against Arsenal and had a great win against Stoke on Saturday. Now we need to focus and make sure that this form continues, because we’re not out of the woods yet.”
FIFA 18 gamers can get their hands on Reid’s TOTW card by opening Bronze, Silver and Gold packs on FIFA Ultimate Team.
Gamers will require in-game coins or FIFA points to be able to open packs and there is no guarantee that you will get Reid in the packs you open. If you manage to build up a big enough collection of coins, you may be able to secure one in the player transfer market.
