Farewell Boleyn - Boleyn Memories

Ex-Hammers defender Danny Gabbidon looks back to his time playing in claret and blue
Former Hammers defender Danny Gabbidon has fond memories of his time playing at the Boleyn Ground over the six seasons he spent at the Club.

The ex-Wales man made over 100 appearances in claret and blue, and was also voted Hammer of the Year in the 2005/06.

Returning for Mark Noble’s Testimonial earlier this week, the centre-back said it was a special occasion for him to play on the Boleyn turf once again.

“It was brilliant to be at Mark Noble’s Testimonial on Monday and to play a part in the game itself, too.

“Getting back on the turf was a bit surreal for me, to be fair. It’s been a while since I last stuck the boots on. In front of a full house, it was a special moment for myself, let alone Nobes, to be honest!

“The last time I was on the Boleyn pitch would have been my last season at the Club, back in 2010/11. I’ve been back to watch a couple of games, but I obviously haven’t had a chance to get on the pitch, so to play a few minutes and not get injured was great!”
