Joint-Chairman hails world class signing

West Ham United Joint-Chairman David Sullivan believes the Club have signed a world class player after Dimitri Payet completed his move to the Boleyn Ground on Friday.

Payet has signed for an eight figure sum and has agreed a five-year deal with the east London club.

Mr Sullivan reveals that the France international was Slaven Bilic's first choice and they are thrilled to have beaten off interest from a number of top European clubs to sign him.

Payet is rated one of the hottest properties in Europe and was one of the star players in the French League last season.

Mr Sullivan has no doubts he will excite the West Ham United supporters next season and cannot wait to see him in action.

Sullivan said: “We have signed a world class player. If he was 22 he would be £30m plus, but he's still in his prime.

“His style of play will really excite the supporters. He plays the West Ham Way.

“Slaven saw him as his number one target that we could afford - sadly Ronaldo and Messi were outside our budget at the moment!”
