Zadorsky: We’re looking forward to being back at home

Shelina Zadorsky is relishing being back at Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday as West Ham United women's team welcome Chelsea to east London.

The Barclays Women's Super League clash against the champions take place across Women's Football Weekend, and another large crowd is expected in Dagenham as Rehanne Skinner's side go in search of picking up more points at home.

A limited number of tickets are still available for the clash, and Zadorsky is looking forward to another exciting but tough clash against one of the top sides in the division.

And having taken points from matches against Arsenal and Manchester United in recent home matches, the defender believes that the team have the ability to rise to the occasion once again.

"We're looking forward to being back at home," Zadorsky told whufc.com.

"Chelsea are obviously a really experienced side and pose a lot of challenges, but I think we can really rise to these big occasions and get the best out of ourselves as individuals and as a team.

"We have the ability to cause Chelsea problems. We know it's going to be a battle on all fronts, but it's an opportunity for us to bounce back and put in a good performance."

Last time out, Zadorsky and her teammates fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Liverpool at Prenton Park in a disappointing afternoon on Merseyside.

The Canadian hopes that the work that the team have put in out on the training pitch this week will help them to correct some of the errors that they made against the Reds and will set them up well heading into Sunday's home tie.

"We weren't up to our standards last weekend, in terms of work rate, winning first and second balls and defending the box. They've all been things that we've been good at when we've had good results this season.

"It's about making sure we get back to those habits and we're able to continue doing that on a consistent basis. We've taken the learnings from the defeat into training this week and we'll be much better at that this weekend."

Over 3000 tickets have been sold for the fixture on Sunday, with another loud and bumper crowd expected to descend on Chigwell Construction Stadium to cheer on Zadorsky and co.

Having joined the Hammers on loan in January, the 31-year-old has enjoyed getting to know the fans and hearing them cheer on the team in recent matches.

"The fans have been so important for us at home," Zadorsky explained. "It's nice to always be able to hear them, and for me personally, they've been so welcoming since I arrived at the Club.

"It gives all of us that little extra boost during matches, so we really appreciate their support. Hopefully they will be there in their numbers again on Sunday."
