Who has been called up?

Captain Jarrod Bowen was rewarded for a strong individual start to the 2025/26 campaign by being recalled to Thomas Tuchel’s 24-man England squad for FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, in UEFA Group K.

The skipper - who set the Hammers on their way to a first victory of the Premier League season at Nottingham Forest on Sunday - will look to help his country maintain their 100 per cent start to their World Cup qualifying campaign.

The Three Lions will welcome Andorra to Villa Park on Saturday 6 September at 5pm BST before they head to Belgrade to face Serbia on Tuesday 9 September at 7.45pm BST.

Meanwhile, the World Cup qualifying campaign in UEFA Group C gets underway, where Mads Hermansen, hoping to win his first senior cap for Denmark, will face teammate Dinos Mavropanos at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus on Monday 8 September at 9.45pm EEST (7.45pm BST).

Three days prior to that, Hermansen’s De Rød-Hvide will welcome Scotland to Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on Friday 5 September at 8.45pm CEST (7.45pm BST), while Mavropanos’ Ethniki will host Belarus on the same day, also at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium at 9.45pm EEST (7.45pm BST).

Continuing in Europe, midfielder Tomáš Souček has a vital FIFA World Cup qualifier with the Czech Republic, and the national team captain will lead his country in their UEFA Group L tie away at Montenegro on Friday 5 September at 8.45pm CEST (7.45pm BST).

With just one qualifier to play in September, Czechia will also welcome Saudi Arabia to Malšovická aréna in Hradec Králové for a friendly international on Monday 8 September at 7.15pm CEST (6.15pm BST).

Similarly, Niclas Füllkrug and Callum Marshall are part of the Germany and Northern Ireland squads, respectively, for the start of their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns in UEFA Group A.

Germany are first scheduled to travel to Slovakia on Thursday 4 September (8.45pm CEST, 7.45pm BST), before hosting Northern Ireland in Cologne on Sunday 7 September (8.45pm CEST, 7.45pm BST) - a clash that could see Füllkrug line up against fellow West Ham forward Marshall.

Northern Ireland start their bid for World Cup qualification on Thursday 4 September at 8.45pm CEST (7.45pm BST), against Luxembourg at Stade de Luxembourg.

West Ham's new midfielder Mateus Fernandes has been named in the Portugal U21 squad for 2027 UEFA European U21 Championship Group B qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Scotland.

Our No18 and his compatriots begin their qualifying campaign by hosting Azerbaijan at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos - home of Primeira Liga club Gil Vicente - in north-western Portugal on Friday 5 September at 8.30pm CEST (7.30pm BST).

They then fly north to take on Scotland at Fir Park in Motherwell on Tuesday 9 September at 7pm BST.

Meanwhile, Lucas Paquetá has been recalled to the Brazil squad for two FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with our No10 being selected by recently-appointed manager Carlo Ancelotti for the first time.

Brazil will host Chile at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday 4 September at 9.30pm local time (Friday 5 September, 1.30am BST), before travelling to the Municipal Stadium in El Alto to tackle Bolivia on Tuesday 9 September at 7.30pm local time (Wednesday 10 September, 12.30am BST).

And finally, left wing-back El Hadji Malick Diouf has been included in Senegal’s squad for two FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Lions of Teranga are six games into their ten-match CAF Group B qualifying campaign and need to finish strongly to secure a place at next summer’s finals in North America.

Senegal welcome Sudan to Diamniadio Olympic Stadium on Friday 5 September at 7pm GMT (8pm BST), before travelling to the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa to face DR Congo on Tuesday 9 September at 5pm DST (5pm BST).
