West Ham United women’s team v Everton
Barclays Women's Super League, Chigwell Construction Stadium, Sunday 16 November 2025, 12noon GMT

West Ham United women's team welcome Everton to Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday in the Barclays Women's Super League.

The Hammers head into the clash buoyed by a scintillating victory over Southampton in the Subway® Women's League Cup in midweek, which saw us put five unanswered goals past the Saints in a finishing masterclass.

Viviane Asseyi and Shekiera Martinez both scored braces, and Ffion Morgan was also on target, as all three players came off the bench to make an instant impact in Dagenham. The France international's sumptuous volley in second-half stoppage time was the pick of the bunch, helping us on our way to strengthening our position at the top of Group C.

However, attentions now quickly shift to Sunday's encounter with the Toffees, our third successive home fixture in all competitions, who come into the game having not won in the WSL since the opening day of the season.

Last time out in the league, we were dealt a late blow against Leicester City, and Rehanne Skinner's side will be determined to pick up all three points this time around in east London.

Here's everything you need to know about Sunday's visit of the Toffees.

Opposition...

Everton come into Sunday's fixture at Chigwell Construction Stadium without a win in the WSL since the opening day of the season. Since Sunday 7 September, they have suffered six defeats across all competitions and drawn twice in the league.

That said, their opening-day victory was one for the memory books, as it came against Merseyside rivals Liverpool at Anfield. It was a debut to remember for Ornella Vignola, who netted a stunning hat-trick to help the Toffees come from a goal down to secure a 4-1 success, and silence the home fans.

Her first was a peach, curling home from outside the box before she netted a bullet header in the second half to double the Toffees’ advantage. Her hat-trick was completed via a deflection two minutes later, already rewarding Everton’s faith to bring her to the club in the summer.

The 21-year-old signed from Liga F side Granada in July, where she made more than 60 appearances across two seasons.

The Spain U23 international started her career at Barcelona, where she made three senior appearances and featured in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Most recently, last Sunday, Everton fell to a narrow 2-1 loss against visiting Manchester City at Goodison Park, the new home of their women’s team. France international Kelly Gago notched her fourth goal in all competitions this season five minutes before the break to cancel out Vivianne Miedema’s opener, but Bunny Shaw put the Citizens back in the ascendency on 54 minutes.

In 2024/25, Everton ended the season eighth with six wins and six draws from their 22 matches under head coach Brian Sørensen, who penned a new two-year contract in April 2025.

Sørensen was appointed Everton manager in April 2022 and has achieved back-to-back eighth-place finishes in the WSL in his two full seasons in charge.

His appointment at the Toffees marked his first job in England’s top flight, having previously spent his managerial career in his home country, Denmark, coaching FC Nordsjælland, IK Skovbakken, and most notably, Fortuna Hjørring, where he stayed for seven years across two spells at the club.

Also during his time at Fortuna Hjørring, Sørensen guided the Danish side to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2016, having lifted his first Danish Championship two years prior.

Everton made nine signings over the summer. As well as the addition of Vignola, they recruited Martina Fernandez from Barcelona, Rion Ishikawa from Urawa Reds, Hikaru Kitagawa from Haken, Ruby Mace and Yuka Momiki from Leicester City, Katie Robinson (loan) and Maz Pacheco from Aston Villa and Rosa van Gool from Ajax.

Among the nine departures were Justine Vanhaevermaet, who left upon the expiry of her contract, and Sara Holmgaard, who signed for Real Madrid.

Previous Meetings…

West Ham United have enjoyed our previous home fixtures against the Toffees, winning three of the last four and keeping clean sheets in four of the last five.

We most recently faced Everton in January, on an afternoon when Skinner's side ran out 2-0 winners in Dagenham courtesy of first-half goals from Shekiera Martinez, her first for the Club, and Viviane Asseyi.

The sides drew 1-1 on Merseyside in October last season, in which Anouk Denton struck for the Irons.
