Shelina Zadorsky pens new deal at West Ham United

West Ham United is delighted to announce that Shelina Zadorsky has signed a contract extension with the Club.

The 32-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year extension following her first permanent season in east London, having spent six months on loan with the Hammers during the second half of the 2023/24 campaign.

Having been appointed Rehanne Skinner’s vice-captain last summer, the Canada international made 26 appearances across all competitions during the 2024/25 season as the Hammers set numerous Club records in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Our No14 is pleased to have extended her stay in east London and is now fully focused on enjoying another successful season in Claret and Blue.

“I’m so happy to extend my contract,” Zadorsky said. “West Ham feels like home. I felt welcomed from the first time I walked through the door, and there is nowhere else I would rather be right now.

“This environment has helped to improve me as a player and as a person. I take pride in helping those around me, and I will always try to use my leadership qualities and experience for the greater good of the team.

“I have a strong relationship with the staff and players. We have so many great characters in the building, and the team cohesion is something really special. We have fun, but we have a competitive mindset and want to push the team to the next level.

“Knowing that we’ve added even more quality over the summer will help us to build on a solid foundation from last season. It’s an exciting time for the Club and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”

Zadorsky, who previously worked with Skinner at Tottenham Hotspur, made ten appearances for West Ham before making her move across the capital permanent last summer. And in December last year, the defender netted her first goal for the east Londoners in a 3-0 victory over Southampton in the Subway® Women’s League Cup.

The former Orlando Pride centre-back also boasts international pedigree, having represented Canada on 113 occasions and helped her country win the Algarve Cup in 2016, a gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games, and most recently, the 2025 Pinatar Cup.

Manager Skinner expressed her happiness in seeing her vice-captain sign a new deal with the Hammers.

“I’m delighted that Shelina has extended her contract at West Ham United,” Skinner said. “She is a hard-working, well-respected player who has a wealth of experience at the highest level of the game.

“She knows what it takes to be a winner. Her attitude on a daily basis is a great example for the other players around her, and it’s been a pleasure to see her thrive in this environment over the last 18 months, especially having stepped into the role of vice-captain last season.”

Everyone at West Ham United would like to congratulate Shelina on her new deal and wish her every success for the upcoming campaign in Claret and Blue.
