Dylan Tombides Award winner Preston Fearon has received further recognition for his exploits during the 2024/25 season, being named West Ham United’s Premier League Scholar of the Year at the recent Premier League Youth Development Awards, held at Wembley Stadium.
The award recognises one scholar from each club who has excelled across all aspects of the programme, both on and off the pitch, and served as a role model to their peers.
As captain of the U18s, Fearon led his side to Premier League Cup glory and has also impressed in the classroom. Working towards a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sporting Excellence and Performance (equivalent to three A-Levels) and a Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) Level 3 apprenticeship, Fearon achieved three distinctions.

His progress this season was also recognised by the Club last month, when he received the Dylan Tombides Award and Doris Bell Trophy, handed out at the final men’s home match of the season against Nottingham Forest, fittingly on his 18th birthday.
After a stress fracture in his spine limited his involvement in his first year as a scholar, Fearon returned determined, captaining the U18s to silverware in the Premier League Cup and earning regular opportunities with the U21s, where he became a regular starter in Mark Robson’s side.
Having completed his scholarship and signed his first professional contract earlier this season, Fearon will now transition full-time to Rush Green training ground as part of the U21s squad.
Everyone at West Ham United congratulates Preston on his award and wishes him continued success in the next stage of his journey.
