Matchday Gallery | Hammers defeat Magpies at London Stadium

West Ham United came from behind to register our first home win of the season against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Jacob Murphy fired Newcastle into a fourth minute lead, but the Irons impressed in attack and turned it around with two goals in ten minutes before the break through Lucas Paquetá and Sven Botman's own goal.

Then, right at the end, Tomáș Souček sealed the points and put the cherry on top of a much-needed 3-1 victory.

Jarrod Bowen's rocket struck an upright at one end, but the Magpies broke straight up the other to net the opener in the fourth minute.

Murphy was the goalscorer, lashing low into the bottom left hand corner from 20 yards to leave the Irons trailing early.

West Ham then had a penalty award overturned following a VAR review, but kept on plugging away and deservedly levelled ten minutes before the break when Paquetá drilled a powerful effort inside Nick Pope's near post from 25 yards.

Then, in the fifth minute of first half stoppage time, Aaron Wan-Bissaka sent in a dangerous low cross that Magpies defender Botman could only turn into his own net.

Into the second half, and after Freddie Potts had an effort chalked off for a tight offside, the Irons made sure of the points in added time.

Pope could only half save Bowen's low effort and Souček was on hand to force the loose ball home.
