Nathan Trott in action for Vejle BK

Loan Watch: Trott keeps clean-sheet on Vejle BK league debut

Six West Ham United loanees were in action for their respective clubs over the last weekend of football prior to the first international break of the 2022/23 campaign.

Only one can boast playing the full 90 minutes and helping their team to victory as Nathan Trott made his league debut for Vejle BK in the Danish NordicBet Liga.

The 23-year-old featured in Saturday’s 2-0 victory at home to Hobro IK, keeping a second clean-sheet in as many appearances for the side after his full debut in the Sydbank Pokalen last month.

Richard Sukuta-Pasu gave Vejle the advantage on 51 minutes with a smart finish, before Trott was called upon to make a superb save.

The goalkeeper’s efforts would prove vital with Vejle’s win being secured thanks to Dimitris Emmanouilidis’ strike 15 minutes from time.

Two other West Ham United loanees tasted victory this past weekend, with both coming off the bench for their respective EFL sides.

Armstrong okoflex in action against Everton

Armstrong Okoflex was a late substitute for Swansea City as the south Wales side secured a comprehensive 3-0 win at home to Hull City.

The 20-year-old’s introduction, during added time at the end of the second half, came long after the three points had been wrapped up by the Swans. Three second half goals, netted by Ryan Manning, Luke Cundle and Joel Piroe, ensured the victory.

In EFL League One, Mipo Odubeko was also utilised as a substitute. The striker came off the bench for Port Vale in Saturday’s 2-1 win at home to Shrewsbury Town.

The Irish attacker was introduced on 72 minutes, in place of James Wilson with the score-line level at 1-1. Darrell Clarke’s side had taken a ninth-minute lead through Ellis Harrison only for Shrewsbury to strike back ten minutes later through Christian Saydee.

Harrison would get his second, and the winning goal, one minute into added time at the end of the second half, with Odubeko and his Port Vale teammates moving up to 13th in the League One Table.

Thierry Nevers also played in EFL action, featuring in the full 90 minutes for Newport County in a 2-0 home loss to Barrow in League Two.

Barrow took the result thanks to Josh Gordan’s double; the first coming moments before half-time and the second being netted from the penalty spot on the hour.

Two other loaned Hammers were in action on the continent as Nikola Vlašić and Arthur Masuaku played for Torino and Beşiktaş, respectively.

Vlašić played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 home defeat to Sassuolo while Masuaku featured in the entirety of Beşiktaş’ 2-2 draw away to İstanbulspor.
