Loan Watch | Luizão's Pogon push for European qualification

Luizão made his second and third consecutive starts for Pogon Szczecin last week, playing the full 90 minutes in both a 3-0 win away at Motor Lublin and a 3-3 home draw with Lechia Gdańsk, results that put European qualification in Pogon’s hands heading into the final game of the season.

In Saturday’s draw, Luizão featured in front of a 20,000-strong crowd at the Stadion Miejski im. Floriana Krygiera, where Pogon twice came from behind to lead, only to concede a last-minute equaliser.

The Polish Ekstraklasa season concludes this weekend with a decisive game against Jagiellonia Białystok, who occupy the second UEFA Conference League spot. A win would see Luizão’s Pogon leapfrog the defending champions into the final European qualification place.

Meanwhile, in the EFL League One play-offs, Gideon Kodua was introduced in the closing stages of Wycombe Wanderers’ semi-final second leg against Charlton Athletic on Wednesday.

After nearly 180 goalless minutes across both legs, the tie was ultimately settled when the Addicks’ top scorer Matt Godden struck ten minutes from time. Kodua was part of a late triple substitution, alongside former Hammer Kieran Sadlier and Magnus Westergaard, as Wycombe pushed for an equaliser, but Charlton held on to secure their spot at Wembley.

Kodua concludes his second loan spell with the Chairboys having made 25 appearances and scored three goals.
