Loan Watch | Kodua's Luton earn away victory at League One leaders Stockport

Two West Ham United Academy youngsters were in action for their respective loan clubs over the weekend...

Gideon Kodua came off the bench to see out Luton Town’s second consecutive away victory and clean sheet in EFL League One.

In fact, it is four wins in a row in all competitions for Jack Wilshere’s side; their latest three points coming away at leaders Stockport County in a huge 3-0 win.

Kodua came on as a second-half substitute after recording an assist and a goal in his last two outings for the Hatters. Luton now move within three points of the play-off places.

Regan Clayton’s Braintree Town fell to another agonising defeat despite a dominant performance at promotion pushing Wealdstone in the Enterprise National League.

Wealdstone goalkeeper Dante Baptiste made six huge saves, including an acrobatic 97th-minute stop to deny John Akinde’s point blank range header and prevent the Essex club equalising. The home side had taken the lead against the run of play through substitute Daniel Nkrumah on 83 minutes.

Clayton started his second game in just three days, playing 87 minutes, but goalkeeper and Academy teammate Mason Terry remains sidelined with a wrist injury.

Kaelan Casey was on the bench in Swansea City’s Championship 4-1 defeat at home to Ipswich Town. It’s back-to-back losses for Casey’s side, as former Tractor Boy Cameron Burgess netted two own goals against his former side. Despite just one win in their last six league games, the Swans still sit seven points above the relegation zone.

In the Scottish Premiership, Junior Robinson was on the bench again for Livingston who continue rooted to the bottom of the table following their 1-1 draw at newly promoted Falkirk.

Abroad, Maxwel Cornet was an unused substitute for Genoa who missed the opportunity to climb out of the relegation zone as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home to bottom-of-the-table Fiorentina.

Finally, in the Turkish Super League, Edson Álvarez played 85 minutes in undefeated Fenerbahçe’s 4-2 home win over Kayserispor. Their fifth win in six in all competitions closes the gap on rivals Galatasaray to just a point at the top of the table, following their first loss of the campaign at Kocaelispor thanks to former Leyton Orient forward Daniel Agyei’s first goal for the club.
