Junior Robinson signs new contract

West Ham United is delighted to announce that Junior Robinson has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract.

The 19-year-old, who is comfortable as a full-back, wing-back, or winger, put pen to paper on a new deal until June 2026.

A regular attacking threat down the right, Robinson has made 10 appearances for the U21s this term, helping Steve Potts’s side reach the last 16 of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy and a Premier League International Cup semi-final.

A former England international at U15 and U17 level, the Bethnal Green-born Robinson was delighted to sign a new deal with the Club he has called home for nearly 14 years.

He said: “I’m really happy to get another contract with the Club I have been at since I was six, so it is a huge moment for me.

“It shows that West Ham has a big trust in me and believes I can make the next step into the first team and hopefully I can show them that I can do that.

“I had a couple of injuries in my first year as a professional but that just made me hungrier, and I think I appreciate playing a lot more because of that.

“West Ham has always been my team and my friends all support West Ham, so it is my dream to play here."

Robinson joined the Academy of Football as a six-year-old after being spotted playing for Sunday League team Senrab FC in Forest Gate - a stone's throw away from London Stadium.

In the summer of 2022, following a season that saw Robinson make 28 outings for the U18s and earn two appearances in the Premier League Cup for the U23s, the full-back signed professional terms with the Club. He has also previously represented England at U15s level but cites his proudest achievement as his Young Lions debut at U17 level against Belgium in late 2020.

The 19-year-old’s first season as a professional was unfortunately hindered by injuries, as he was limited to 11 appearances in all competitions, but the young Hammer responded to the setback impeccably and has become a key performer this term.

Sporting Director Mark Noble praised Robinson’s efforts and said: “Junior is a hugely likeable character, and we are thrilled that he will continue his progress with West Ham United.

“His journey to this stage has not been the easiest and he has shown huge dedication and determination to overcome the setbacks he faced during his first full season as a professional.

“Junior has impressed for the U21s this season - and while he has been a key part of the side that reached the last 16 of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy and Premier League International Cup semi-finals, he knows the hard work must continue.

“As it is with the other young professionals to have signed new contracts this season, it is up to Junior to make the most of this opportunity, maximise his talent, and push on.

“Supported by myself, Kenny Brown, and the coaches across the Academy, we look forward to seeing how Junior will respond to the challenge in front of him.”

Impressing as a right wing-back in 2023/24, Robinson has helped the U21s move second in Premier League 2 – with just three league defeats in 17 games at the time of writing.

He also scored in a recent win over GNK Dinamo Zagreb on the way to the U21s’ first-ever Premier League International Cup semi-final – a fixture set for Tuesday 9 April against PSV – and netted his second goal of the season in a 4-1 triumph at Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month.

Everyone at West Ham United would like to congratulate Junior on signing his new contract and wish him every success for his future career in Claret and Blue.
