The latest episode of the official West Ham United podcast – Iron Cast – sees a return to the show for Anton Ferdinand. 

The centre-back previously featured on the show in a particularly poignant episode regarding The No Room For Racism campaign, and now Ferdinand is back on the show for an in-depth consideration of his career. 

The Academy of Football graduate played 163 times in Claret and Blue and now sits down with co-hosts Chris Scull and James Collins to look back on his time with the Club.

Ferdinand reflects on joining the Academy at nine-years-old and watching as older brother Rio played in the Claret and Blue, with the added pressure of having the future England captain as his sibling.

The former No5 talks about stepping into first team training, working alongside the likes of Paolo Di Canio and Frédéric Kanouté, and making his debut under the late Glenn Roeder.

The defender gives his perspective on achieving promotion with West Ham in the 2004/05 campaign, and playing in the FA Cup final against Liverpool just a season later.

Ferdinand would go on to play for Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League too, as well as the likes of Antalyaspor, Reading and Southend United.
