Shelina Zadorsky

Internationals | Zadorsky features for Canada, Colombia slip to Mexico defeat

Shelina Zadorsky picked up more minutes in a Canada shirt in the early hours of Thursday morning, but her side fell to a 3-0 defeat against the United States at Audi Field in Washington DC.

The West Ham United women’s team defender, who netted for Canada in their previous friendly against Costa Rica, watched from the substitutes’ bench as her side slipped to a two-goal deficit at half-time after strikes from Sam Coffey and Claire Hutton.

Zadorsky, 32, was introduced just after the hour, in place of Ashley Lawrence, to pick up her 113th appearance for Canada, before Yazmeen Ryan sealed the USA’s victory in the dying stages.

Meanwhile, Hammers winger Manuela Paví was an unused substitute for Colombia as they slipped to a 1-0 loss away to Mexico at Estadio Agustín Coruco Díaz.

After the two sides played out a goalless draw on Friday, Diana Ordóñez’s goal on 58 minutes proved to be enough for La Tri in Zacatepec de Hidalgo, leaving Colombia with a defeat heading into their Copa America Fémenina journey.

Las Chicas Superpoderosas start their Copa America Fémenina campaign when they face Venezuela in Quito, Ecuador, on Thursday 17 July (kick-off 1am BST).
