The West Ham United Foundation is proud to unveil the newest feature at its community hub, The Foundry, with the installation of a bold canopy across the front of the building marking the final architectural piece in this landmark development.
The sign proudly bears the name of the West Ham United Foundation, standing as a lasting symbol for the Club’s deep-rooted commitment to the local community. More than just a marker, it serves as an anchor for the Foundation’s ongoing work across east London, Essex and globally, signalling not just a new era, but a continued and evolving presence.
Joseph Lyons, CEO of the West Ham United Foundation, said: "The installation of the canopy and illuminated Hammers sign at The Foundry is a huge moment for us and a proud reflection of West Ham United’s identity and values. We have the unique power to unite, inspire and create lasting change, and these additions to our Foundation hub reflect that. Just like the iconic visuals at London Stadium, these are a proud symbol of identity, aspiration and community. The Foundry stands as a beacon for our community - a place where opportunity begins, and ambition and belonging are nurtured."
Named in tribute to West Ham’s proud origins as Thames Ironworks FC, The Foundry has been purpose-built to dramatically expand the scale, impact and reach of the Foundation’s life-changing work. Once fully operational, it will serve as the permanent home of the West Ham United Foundation, delivering over 35 programmes across education, employment, health, youth, inclusion, football development and enterprise. With expected reach to more than 50,000 people annually, the site is projected to generate £75 million in social value over its first five years.

Last week, another milestone was marked as the Foundation began the crucial testing phase of the facility. Technical Development Centre participants were among the first to return, bringing the building to life. The honour of being the first official participant through the doors went to Jerome, aged six, who received a Foundation boot bag and water bottle to commemorate such a special moment.
Programme Manager Derek Duncan, who oversees the Technical Development Centres, said: "Seeing Jerome walk through those doors as our first participant was a special moment for all of us. Our Technical Development Centres are now being tested in a world-class facility that matches our ambitions for these aspiring young footballers, and we're incredibly excited to welcome our participants to this amazing new home."
With staff now on site full-time, the building is buzzing with activity. Electronic gates are being trialled for smooth operation, and the aroma of coffee fills the air as the E6 Kitchen begins establishing its menu. Every element of the facility is being fine-tuned to ensure it can fully support the Foundation’s expanding initiatives.
As part of this settling-in period, more groups have since begun their phased return, including Any Old Irons, Premier League Kicks, Special Education Needs and Disability groups and trialists for both the boys' and girls' Post-16 courses.
This careful testing of systems and programmes underlines the Foundation’s commitment to readiness, impact and community engagement. With its modern, purpose-built spaces and iconic new canopy, The Foundry stands ready to serve as an anchor for positive change and a place where opportunity begins.
