Jarrod Bowen

Fantasy Premier League | Gameweek 38 hints and tips

After another season full of thrills and spills, West Ham United are set to contest their final Premier League game of the campaign against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Graham Potter's side endured a frustrating afternoon last time out as they were defeated 2-1 by UEFA Champions League-chasing Nottingham Forest, with Jarrod Bowen's stunning half-volley proving to be nothing more than a consolation strike.

Next up for the Hammers, as they seek to finish 2024/25 on a high with a three-point haul, is a visit to Portman Road, which has a Fixture Difficulty Rating (FDR) of two out of five, suggesting this game represents a strong opportunity to earn an eleventh victory of the season and for you to collect points by picking West Ham players in your FPL team.

The Gameweek 38 transfer deadline is set for 2.30pm on Sunday 25 May, ahead of what is set up to be a blockbuster final day of Premier League action.

Bowen’s on fire…

Some things are certain in life, and Jarrod Bowen (£7.9m) finding the back of the net in recent weeks has been one of them. The West Ham United captain enters an away fixture against Ipswich Town in his most consistent form of the season, having scored four goals, provided two assists and had no blanks across his last five outings, totalling an incredible 44 points.

Bowen is one of the top-scoring forwards in FPL, with 12 goals this season, while he scored and assisted the opening goal in the reverse fixture back in Gameweek Seven. Our No20’s 12-point haul versus Ipswich, his joint-highest return of the season, is a timely reminder to managers that he is near-essential for this final Gameweek.

Kieran McKenna’s hosts, meanwhile, have conceded the second highest amount of goals in the Premier League this season (79), and with only four players classed as midfielders in FPL racking up more points than Bowen’s 180 this term, it would be no surprise to see him finish with a flurry.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Elsewhere, Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.4m), who was crowned Hammer of the Year for 2024/25 last weekend, has scored 113 points in total so far in his debut season in Claret and Blue, having recorded back-to-back assists against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, and is at a very cheap and affordable price in Fantasy.

If you fancy taking a gamble, why not include Vladimír Coufal (£4.1m) in your squad?

The right-back has never found the back of the net in his 179 appearances in Claret and Blue but managed two shots against Nottingham Forest last weekend, and with the Czech set to depart the Club at the end of the season, it would be a fitting farewell for one of our great servants should he score at Portman Road.

Liam Delap

Opposition Watch: Ipswich Town

Although all the promoted teams have gone straight back down, McKenna's Ipswich Town have been the best-performing attacking side of the three.

The Tractor Boys have scored 35 goals, and Liam Delap (£5.6m) has been responsible for 12 of them, with only Nottingham Forest's Chris Wood accounting for a higher proportion of his team's goals than Delap's 34.3 per cent.

The Manchester City academy graduate, who is playing his first season regularly in the Premier League, scored in the teams’ reverse meeting in October and will hope to add to his tally in front of the Portman Road faithful.

Meanwhile, it’s been a relatively successful season for winger Omari Hutchinson (£5.2m).

The former Chelsea winger has scored three goals in the Premier League this season and provided two assists, and could be a good budget enabler, as could Julio Enciso (£5.4m), who has enjoyed a fruitful loan spell in the second half of the season, accumulating 13 and nine-point hauls since joining from Brighton & Hove Albion in January.
