Callum Marshall signs new contract and joins West Bromwich Albion on loan

West Ham United is delighted to announce that forward Callum Marshall has signed a new three-year contract.

The 19-year-old, who made his senior West Ham debut in the FA Cup earlier in January, has put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2027.

The Northern Ireland international will now spend the remainder of the 2023/24 season on loan at EFL Championship side West Bromwich Albion.

Marshall is delighted to commit to his future to the Hammers and is excited for a loan spell in England’s second tier.

The forward said: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract with West Ham United,” he confirmed. “The Club has shown a lot of faith in me, bringing me over from Northern Ireland and giving me opportunities at U18, U21 and first-team levels.

“I am happy to have my future settled and to be going out on loan to a big club in the Championship in West Brom, where I’m looking forward to continuing to work on and improve my all-round game.

“I want to thank my family and everyone who has supported me through my career.”

Sporting Director Mark Noble is also pleased to see Marshall follow his U21s teammates George Earthy, Kaelan Casey, Michael Forbes and Patrick Kelly in pledging himself to the Club this season.

He said: "Since signing in 2022, Callum has shown plenty of quality, dedication, and also the potential to push on and forge a place in senior football.

“While the contract is a reward for an impressive run of performances for the Academy’s senior age groups, it will also serve as the next incentive for him to continue his progression and reach a higher level at West Ham.

“As it is with the other young professionals to have signed new contracts this season, Callum will need to keep working away at his game to reach the levels he wants to reach – ultimately it is down to him to keep that same attitude and maximise his potential.

“A loan move to West Bromwich Albion is a fantastic opportunity for a young striker to push himself once again – and with the continuing support of everyone in east London, we know Callum will approach the next step with the same grit and determination that has served him well so far.”

Callum Marshall in action for Northern Ireland against San Marino

Under the guidance of U18s lead coach Kevin Keen, Marshall struck 16 goals in the U18 Premier League South Division title winning campaign and four goals in the FA Youth Cup triumph in 2022 (pictured).

His goalscoring form continued for Steve Potts’ U21s in 2023/24, where the quick striker has returned 16 goals in ten Premier League 2 games including two hat-tricks to help his side to second in the table.

The Linfield product also impressed in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy this campaign, scoring in group-stage wins over Cheltenham Town and Bristol Rovers as the young Hammers reached the last 16.

Performances at domestic level would see Marshall thrust into the Northern Ireland set-up for a senior international debut in Denmark last June, when the 19-year-old saw a dramatic first goal ruled out by VAR for offside, before making his home international debut in October last year against San Marino (pictured, above).

Involved in a number of first-team matchdays in 2023/24, Marshall’s senior bow would come at Ashton Gate, as a second-half substitute in the FA Cup third round against Bristol City.

Everyone at West Ham United would like to congratulate Callum on his new contract and wish him every success for his loan at West Bromwich Albion and his future in Claret and Blue.
