Hammers fans visit statue at London Stadium
West Ham United fans turned out in force to visit the new statue honouring the achievements of Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and the 1965 European Cup Winners' Cup-winning side at London Stadium on Thursday night.
Following the statue's unveiling on Wednesday, supporters were able to see the bronze sculpture in person ahead of the UEFA Europa League home opener against Rapid Vienna,
Recognising West Ham United’s greatest achievement under the Twin Towers, the lifesize-and-a-quarter bronze statue depicts the three World Cup heroes lifting the European Cup Winners’ Cup trophy in 1965, commemorating a performance that catapulted the Club on to the world stage after two second-half goals from Alan Sealey saw the Hammers overcome German side TSV Munich 1860.
Our photographer was on hand on Thursday to capture these images of Hammers supporters at the statue.
