West Ham support Safer Gambling Week 2021

West Ham United are supporting the drive for safer gambling alongside our partners Betway with Safer Gambling Week 2021.

What is Safer Gambling Week?

Running from 1-7 November, Safer Gambling Week is a campaign led by the gambling industry to tackle problem gambling across the UK, by sparking a conversation with the wider community about the importance of gambling in a safe and responsible manner.

How can I get involved?

No matter how often you bet, it’s healthy to take part in safer gambling week to gain a clearer insight on your habits.

The Safer Gambling message will be prevalent across many major UK gambling sites and key support organisations such as the National Gambling Helpline, GamCare and YGam.

Leading charities such as GamCare and YGam will also be providing essential help and support around safer gambling, by holding workshops and training sessions throughout the week, with a particular focus on parents and those working with younger people. These sessions will provide information which can help young people understand the risks associated with gambling, and the tools available to help monitor behaviour.

What can I do to be a safer gambler?

Whether it’s with Betway or another betting provider, there are multiple safer gambling tools that can help you stay safe whilst betting.

Deposit limits: Set a budget of your choosing to keep your spending on bets at a level you are comfortable with.

Session Reminder: Been betting for a while? A session reminder will ensure that you don’t lose track of time.

Know Yourself: Take a short five-minute quiz to better understand yourself and your gambling habits.

And if you need some time away from gambling altogether, you can use the Take a Break tool to pause your account, or the Self Exclusion tool to block your account for six months or more.

Where can I find help?

Help is available from impartial and experienced organisations. These people can help because they have been there themselves:

GamBlock: Uses sophisticated analysis that blocks new gambling sites and software: https://www.gamblock.com/

National Gambling Helpline: Offer confidential information and support for anyone in Great Britain.

BeGambleAware: Provides information, advice and directs people to support to help keep people safe from gambling harms: www.begambleaware.org.

The Helpline is open 24 hours every day on Freephone 0808 8020 133 or via Live Chat. Advisers will listen to you, they won’t judge and your conversation is confidential: https://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-support/talk-to-us-now/
