Highlights: West Ham United U23s 3-1 Leicester City U23s

West Ham United U23s ran out worthy winners against Leicester City U23s on Friday evening, defeating the Foxes 3-1 at Rush Green Stadium.

Having come up against a spirited visiting side in the first period, the Irons took the lead shortly before half-time through Freddie Potts - the 17-year-old's first goal at development squad level - only to be pegged back straight away by Kasey McAteer's volley.

Yet West Ham were not dissuaded and seized control of the match in the second half, courtesy of two fine finishes from midfielders Keenan Forson and Conor Coventry.

The win narrows the gap between the Hammers and the Foxes - who sit just above the relegation zone - to just four points, as the Premier League 2 Division 1 season approaches its final act.

The match was also notable for the return to action of first-team stars Arthur Masuaku and Andriy Yarmolenko, who both played just over 70 minutes in east London.
