Claudia Walker & Zaneta Wyne visit local sister club Tigers JFC
Two of West Ham United Women’s newest signings visited sister club Tigers Junior Football Club last weekend as they held their end-of-season awards evening.
New Hammers Claudia Walker and Zaneta Wyne headed to the Bretons Outdoor Recreation Centre in Rainham for the team’s presentation evening after their work had finished over at Chadwell Heath training ground.
The duo are both new faces in east London, with Walker joining from fellow Barclays FA Women’s Super League side Birmingham City, whilst Wyne has made the move to England from Glasgow City.
Both players were on-hand to pose for photos and present awards to the Tigers U11 Girls team, the perfect way to conclude their 2020/21 season.
There was also an opportunity for Tigers players to ask questions to our professional athletes about their careers in football thus far, much to their enjoyment.
The Club have plans in place to work more closely with our sister club teams in the future as restrictions are eased further.
Neither Walker nor Wyne were the first West Ham United player to visit Tigers JFC, with former defender Laura Vetterlein making the trip down to their training ground in August 2020. The defender had dropped by to hold a training session with their U18s' girls’ team.
The sister club programme gives women’s grassroots teams the opportunity to access a number of resources and support from West Ham United Women. This includes the opportunity to meet members of our playing squad and gain valuable insight from women playing at the highest level in their sport. The programme also offers teams the opportunity to purchase discounted season tickets for the upcoming season, regular exposure on our social media channels - and much more.
