Craig Dawson: It was a massive team effort

Craig Dawson was at the heart of yet another fine collective performance from West Ham United on Sunday.

The Hammers dug deep and showed their resilient core to see off Tottenham Hotspur, rolling up their sleeves after establishing a 2-0 lead to ensure Lucas Moura’s header for the visitors would not be added to.

West Ham had to stand in the face of intense pressure from the north Londoners in the closing stages of the London Stadium contest, but stood firm and were able to enjoy the derby spoils as a result.

For Dawson, it was a case of teamwork yielding the biggest reward.

We’re doing well at the moment and we just need to keep it going and see where it takes us

“It was a great performance and great to get the early goal which settled the nerves,” he said.

“They tested us all the way to the end and it was a great performance from everyone – a massive team effort – and great to see.

“We stuck to our task and it’s always nice to get the win.

“Everyone was very happy in the changing rooms, dancing away. We’re doing well at the moment and we just need to keep it going and see where it takes us.”

Victory saw the Hammers leapfrog Chelsea to move into the Premier League’s top four. Dawson, who has now helped the side claim 23 points from the ten games he has played in Claret & Blue, says the team will not rest on their laurels as they aim to continue to challenge.

“The manager is going to keep us fully focused and ready to go,” he added.  “Who knows where it’ll take us?

“But I can tell you everyone’s going to be working really hard to stay in the team and keep fighting for the Club.”
