Team News: Antonio returns for West Ham in Tottenham derby
Michail Antonio returns to the West Ham United team for today’s Premier League derby with Tottenham Hotspur.
The centre-forward is back after a three-match absence with fatigue and leads the line for David Moyes’ side at London Stadium.
With four goals in nine appearances against Spurs for the Hammers, Antonio has caused problems for the north Londoners before, and will now seek to do so again as the Irons attempt to climb back into the top four with a win.
Pablo Fornals also returns to the starting lineup after being left out for the previous three Premier League matches and makes his first start top-flight since the home game with Liverpool on 31 January.
Antonio and Fornals come in for Manuel Lanzini and Ben Johnson, who both drop to the substitutes’ bench, as Moyes makes two changes to the team which started the 3-0 home win over Sheffield United on Monday evening.
It appears Moyes will revert to a back four, with Vladimír Coufal, Craig Dawson, Issa Diop and Aaron Cresswell starting in front of goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański.
Tomáš Souček starts again in the heart of the Hammers midfield, alongside skipper Declan Rice, with Fornals, Jarrod Bowen and Jesse Lingard supporting Antonio in attack.
The nine-man substitutes’ bench includes Club captain Mark Noble, Saïd Benrahma and Manuel Lanzini, who has four goals in eight appearances against Tottenham, including the winner at London Stadium in May 2017 and the last-gasp equaliser in the reverse fixture in October last year.
