Conor Coventry joins Peterborough United on season-long loan

Conor Coventry

Conor Coventry has joined EFL Championship club Peterborough United on loan until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The 21-year-old midfielder will head to the Weston Homes Stadium seeking to gain valuable senior Football League experience.

Coventry scored seven goals in 21 games as captain of the Hammers’ U23s team last year, and can look forward to a campaign under the tutelage of Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson, who guided the Posh to promotion from League One last year.

Also captain of the Republic of Ireland's U21 team, Coventry has previously played in the EFL at Lincoln City, where he made seven appearances on loan during the curtailed 2019/20 season.

He becomes the fifth West Ham youngster to be loaned out to an EFL club, following goalkeeper Joseph Anang, winger Nathan Holland, defender Frederik Alves and forward Mipo Odubeko, who have made temporary switches to Stevenage, Oxford United, Sunderland and Huddersfield Town respectively.

The deal includes a break clause in January.

Everyone at the Club would like to wish Conor all the best for his loan spell at Peterborough.
