Yarmolenko named Carabao Cup Player of the Round
Andriy Yarmolenko has been named the Carabao Cup Player of the Round after his two goal performance helped the Hammers to a 5-1 victory over Hull City last Tuesday night.
The Ukraine forward netted twice as the Hammers swept their League One visitors aside to set up a fourth round tie at Everton.
Yarmolenko scored his first from the penalty spot, sending Tigers goalkeeper George Long the wrong way shortly after half-time to make the scoreline 3-0.
His second followed right on full-time, as he received a pass from Felipe Anderson inside the box, before curling inside the right-hand post.
Yarmolenko's contribution didn't stop there, as he also laid on two assists to set the Hammers on their way to victory before the break.
His clipped cross was thumped into the net on the volley by Robert Snodgrass, while he also played the ball square for Sebastien Haller to score the hosts' second.
Yarmolenko said: “I am really pleased to receive this award, which I must share with my team-mates as they helped me to play well and to give this performance.
“It was nice to get my first goals of the season and also two assists, but it was a real team effort to win the game – we had some young guys making their debuts and everyone played well to get the victory against Hull.
“We now have a big game against Everton to focus on – we have belief and confidence after winning our last two matches and we hope for another big performance and a good result to progress to the quarter-finals.”
