On This Day: Dowie, Dicks and Dani down Manchester City
Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with Basset & Gold...
Julian Dicks' thunderbolt highlighted West Ham United's 4-2 Premier League win over Manchester City on this day in 1996.
The left-back let fly from long range, giving City goalkeeper Eike Immel no chance as Harry Redknapp's Hammers ran riot at the Boleyn Ground.
Two Iain Dowie headers put West Ham in control before Niall Quinn pulled a goal back. Dicks' shot made it 3-1 before Dani danced through the City defence to make it four. Quinn fired in City's second, but it was not enough to prevent the Hammers securing all three points.
