Mesaque Dju named in Portugal squad for FIFA U-20 World Cup squad
Mesaque Dju will have the chance to complete a hat-trick of international titles after being named in Portugal’s squad for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The West Ham United forward, who was signed from Benfica in January this year, was previously part of the Portugal squads which won the UEFA European U17 and U19 Championships in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
The 20-year-old, who was also named in the UEFA European U19 Championship Team of the Tournament in 2018, is one of 23 players selected by coach Helio Sousa.
Mesaque Dju, who was born in Guinea-Bissau before moving to Lisbon with his family as a child, is one of four English-based players picked alongside Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot, Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ruben Vinagre and Everton goalkeeper Joao Virginia.
Portugal, who won the U-20 World Cup in 1989 and 1991, kick-off their challenge with a Group F fixture with South Korea in the Polish city of Bielsko-Biala on Saturday 25 May.
Dju and company then face Argentina on Tuesday 28 May and South Africa on Friday 31 May, with both games also being played in Bielsko-Biala.
The final will be played in Lodz on Saturday 15 June.
