Kmita urges fans to cheer on Hammers in FA Cup contest

Rosie Kmita

Rosie Kmita has urged West Ham United supporters to flock to Rush Green Stadium this Sunday when the Irons take on Huddersfield Town Ladies in the fifth round of the SSE Women's FA Cup.

The Hammers take on the Terriers this weekend, with the winners securing a spot in the quarter-finals of the prestigious competition, with an action-packed afternoon of fun planned at Rush Green for supporters.

As well as 90 minutes of action on the pitch, A live DJ will be in attendance, while club legend Carlton Cole and men's first team star Michail Antonio are also set to make an appearance, sign autographs and pose for photos.

With a day filled with fun set for Sunday, Kmita is eager to see as many fans as possible cheering on Matt Beard's side this weekend.

It's always great to see the stadium filled with fans. It means everything to us, as players, and we hope it's the same on Sunday.

"I've been at this club since before we were in the WSL, and the support from the fans has always been incredible," Kmita told whufc.com. "They are so passionate and it's always a honour to pull on this shirt and play for them.

"The ground was buzzing in the last game. The supporters always make an amazing atmosphere here and I'm sure it will be exactly the same against Huddersfield. It's always great to see the stadium filled with fans. It means everything to us, as players, and we hope it's the same on Sunday."

Three league defeats meant a difficult start to 2019 for the Hammers, but Kmita believes the win over Blackburn Rovers Ladies last time out has helped to restore belief in this West Ham team.

The winger continued: "January was a bit tough in terms of results but getting that win over Blackburn was big for us, particularly having gone a goal down. It was a confidence boost to get back in the game and get the win, so we're feeling good ahead of Sunday."

The 24-year-old is enjoying working in the WSL with her teammates and is ready to show off what she can do, should she get the opportunity this weekend against Huddersfield.

"I just want to keep working hard in training and, if I get my chance to show what I can do, hopefully I can take it," Kmita added. :We have a really good squad here, and competition for places is high, but that's just pushing me to be even better."
