Noble: Performing like that gives us a massive boost

Mark Noble runs away from Adam Lallana

Mark Noble is sure the Hammers can build upon Monday night’s entertaining 1-1 draw with Liverpool by finding their consistency over the closing stretch of the 2018/19 season.

After taking 15 points from a highly productive December, back-to-back defeats at Bournemouth and Wolves represented a setback for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, but having claimed a point against the league leaders, the West Ham captain describes that as a big building block.

Next up is a London derby at Crystal Palace and Noble knows the importance of heading to Selhurst Park with a positive mindset.

“I think we did deserve more with the chances we had on Monday,” he said. “I should have scored myself, Chicha had a great chance, Dec had a great chance, and their goal was offside.

“They are such a fantastic team and we were on a bad run of results the last three weeks, so to perform the way we did was a massive boost.

“We bounced back well from going 1-0 down, we scored a really clever goal and, yes, we probably should have won it in the end.”

The No16 admitted he was pleased to put a disruptive January behind him, with the squad’s focus now able to return solely to matters on the pitch as they head into the final 13 Premier League games of the campaign.

He added: “We spoke about January in house, together, and said look, the window has closed now. To be honest everyone has been great and is fully on board.”
