Anderson: Hammers showed our quality at Watford

Felipe Anderson was delighted to see West Ham United show their attacking flair and quality with the ball during Saturday's 3-1 Premier League victory at Watford.

Sebastien Haller's first two goals for the Irons secured a thrilling win for West Ham away at Vicarage Road after captain Mark Noble put the side ahead from the penalty spot in the first period.

A thoroughly entertaining match saw both sides create numerous opportunities to add to their goals - with Watford getting on the scoresheet through Andre Gray - and Anderson is happy West Ham had the quality to put away chances when it mattered.

I talk about scoring the chances that we create and now we started to reflect that in the scoreboard. When that happens it’s easier to play more calmly and to display our qualities.

"I always talk about being accurate," The No8 explained. "I talk about scoring the chances that we create and now we started to reflect that in the scoreboard. When that happens, it’s easier to play more calmly and to display our qualities.

"Today we did it and, apart from five minutes where they managed to equalise, we played pretty well. We opened the scoring, which was essential, and then we were clever enough to make the most of that advantage even at the time when they equalised."

Saturday's win means West Ham have scored seven goals in their last two visits to Watford and Anderson believes that the Irons are displaying a new-found clinical nature in front of the net.

The midfielder joined Manuel Pellegrini's side last summer and reckons, while the team played well, the east-London outfit lacked a real prowess in goalscoring; something that Anderson believes is already on a higher level this season.

Having played the assist for Haller's first West Ham finish, the 26-year-old is relishing the freedom afforded to him on the wing for the side.

He added: "Last year we played very well and we created chances but we didn’t convert them as much, so we were on the right track. Today we were sure that we could do it right.

"Today I was pretty offensive on my wing. I like the fact that the coach gives me that freedom and, thanks to that, I also gave an assist."
