Crystal Palace betting preview with Betway

Manuel Lanzini

It’s been a busy few weeks for West Ham United, but with the football calendar easing up, the Hammers can now turn their attentions to a huge London derby against Crystal Palace this weekend.

It was a frustrating showing last time out for Slaven Bilić’s men, but with cup competition no longer a distraction, they can now place their full focus on the Premier League and a push for a top ten finish.

But first they must get past a Palace team fighting for top-flight survival.

West Ham boast a good recent record against the Eagles, with the Irons having won three and drawn one of their last five meetings – and they’re 7/5 to extend that, with Crystal Palace 11/5 to win and the draw at 23/10.

A 1-0 win at Selhurst Park back in October breathed life into the Hammers’ season, and they’ll be hoping another victory can act as a catalyst for the second half of the campaign.

A repeat of that scoreline is 7/1 on Betway’s ‘Correct Score’ market.

Interestingly, in four of the last five meetings, both teams have found the net with Palace’s last visit to east London ending in a 2-2 draw.

That scoreline is 11/1, while it’s 8/11 for both teams to score again this weekend. You can also get both teams to score and West Ham to win at 7/2.

Saturday represents something of a homecoming for former Hammers’ boss Sam Allardyce. Big Sam enjoyed a four-year spell in east London, but as a visiting manager you have to go back to 2005 for his last win on West Ham turf.

Palace are without a win under Allardyce, with the Eagles having conceded five times since his arrival at the end of December.

West Ham are therefore priced at 17/20 to get the first goal in this clash, with the Hammers 9/5 to win the first half and 7/4 to win the second half, respectively.

While Palace have problems at the back, they’re more than capable of finding the net with the likes of Christian Benteke and Andros Townsend particularly dangerous.

The Irons’ backline will need to be switched on throughout if they’re to nullify that threat and are priced at 2/1 to keep a clean sheet this weekend. West Ham to win to nil is 14/5.

Goals tend to be on the menu in this fixture, with 17 scored in the last five meetings between the two – averaging at over three per-game.

It’s 19/20 that we’ll see more than 2.5 goals scored, with the ‘Over 3.5’ market priced at 9/4. West Ham to win with more than 2.5 total goals scored is 11/4.

And if you think it will be a more low-scoring affair, ‘Under 1.5’ goals is currently 12/5.
