FA Cup final ticket selling arrangements

Following our victory at Villa Park last Sunday, we are pleased to set out below details of our ticket allocation and selling arrangements for the FA Cup Final at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on Saturday, May 13, 2006.

We have been advised that we will receive an initial allocation of 23,500 tickets, possibly increasing to a maximum of 24,000. We are hopeful that this will be sufficient to satisfy demand from all bondholders and season ticket holders but accept that we are unlikely to be able to offer any tickets to club members or for general sale.

Due to the size of the allocation, we recognise that many of our loyal supporters will be disappointed at being unable to obtain tickets for this important game in the club's history. The ticket allocation is roughly the same for each of the two finalists.

For this event, the Millennium Stadium has decreed that no duplicate or replacement tickets will be issued. It is very unusual for venues to adopt such a strict policy but we are given to understand that it is a consequence of some abuse of the process for another event recently staged there. For this reason it will be necessary to despatch all tickets by Royal Mail's "special delivery" service, which guarantees 48 hour delivery and an ability to trace, at short notice, any mail which might go astray. None of the Royal Mail's other services offer an adequate level of security for documents of such value. Bulk despatch of special delivery items requires specialist software, which the club does not possess, and it would be unrealistic to attempt to undertake this process manually for up to 24,000 tickets.

The club has therefore decided, once again, to utilise the services of Ticketmaster to sell all Cup Final tickets to supporters. The preferred option of the West Ham United ticket office selling our allocation was simply impractical for the mailing reasons explained above.

It will be noted that Ticketmaster's service charges are considerably higher than the club, and somewhat higher than their own for last season's play off final. We can assure supporters that the club earns nothing from these charges and has negotiated with Ticketmaster to minimise them. However, Ticketmaster has emphasised that a major element of their costs is the credit card fee - a percentage of the face value of tickets which are significantly more expensive than the play off final tickets. The additional cost of special delivery is unavoidable for the reasons explained above.

The following categories of season ticket holders should apply through the West Ham United ticket office and not Ticketmaster...

Bondholders - Monday 1st May

A sufficient number of Band 1 seats situated in what is considered internally to be the best position will be held until the close of business on the above date (10am to 5pm) Bondholders may apply in person or submit a postal application to be received in advance of the above date. Bondholders can apply for a maximum of one ticket per bond held and additional tickets cannot be requested should the holder also own a season ticket.

Bond reference numbers will not be recognised by Ticketmaster.

Unfortunately, due to the Millennium Stadium, zero duplicate policy, explained above, all tickets will require collection from the West Ham United ticket office.

Away Match Season Ticket Holders

We are pleased to confirm that all away match season ticket holders will be allocated a match ticket for the Final. This will be processed automatically and you do not need to make a separate application.

Unfortunately, due to the Millennium Stadium zero duplicate policy, explained above, all tickets will require collection from the West Ham United ticket office.

Tickets will be ready for collection from 10am Monday 1st May onwards. Please note you will be required to provide proof of identity and we will require a signature for all tickets collected.

Disabled Season Ticket Holders - £25 plus carer

All disabled season ticket holders will be sent an application form which will need to be completed and returned to the ticket office by no later then Tuesday 2nd May - Disabled season ticket holders should not apply by any other means.

West Ham United will receive 58 wheelchair spaces and priority will be given to those season ticket holders who attended the semi-final.

Unfortunately, due to the Millennium Stadium zero duplicate policy, explained above, all tickets will require collection from the West Ham United ticket office. Disabled season ticket holders whose applications are successful may wish to collect their tickets at the Spurs game on Sunday 7th May.

All other supporters will need to apply through Ticketmaster, as follows...

Season ticket holders will be split into two categories - those who attended the FA Cup Semi Final and those who were either unsuccessful or did not apply.

This has been done to ensure that those supporters with the highest priority points totals and who have held season tickets for the previous five years receive priority. We remain hopeful that all other season ticket holders will nevertheless receive tickets for the final.

Season ticket holders who attended the Semi Final - 10am, Monday 1st May 06 to 5pm, Tuesday 2nd May.

All other season ticket holders - 8am to 5pm, Wednesday 3rd May 06.

Online - via www.whufc.com
