Rui Barbosa | Men's First-Team Goalkeeping Coach

Born: 22 September 1973, Vila do Conde, Portugal

Rui Barbosa was appointed as Men's First-Team Goalkeeping Coach in October 2025.

Barbosa, a Portuguese native who represented the likes of Rio Ave and Nacional in his homeland during his playing career, has previously worked with Hammers Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo as a goalkeeping coach at Rio Ave, Porto, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, Al-Ittihad and, most recently, Nottingham Forest.

He now takes his place within the goalkeeping department at West Ham United and will work closely with Goalkeeping Coach Billy Lepine, who was promoted to the senior set-up alongside fellow Academy coaches Mark Robson, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville following Nuno's arrival in east London.
