Through the Football Literacy Club we aim to develop young people’s literacy skills through reading, writing, and oracy interventions whilst promoting reading and writing for pleasure amongst pupils who demonstrate a reluctance to read.
We provide partner secondary schools with an engaging curriculum that can be delivered to groups of pupils weekly throughout the year. We have a 36 week programme which covers reading, writing, and oracy interventions.
When it is running and where
During the academic year two days a week during term time. Days to be decided with partner schools.
Who is it targeting
Young people aged 11-15 who either have reading ages below their chronological age, who are struggling to access the curriculum due to low literacy levels or possess an apathy towards reading and writing.
Why it will benefit them
Improved reading, writing, and oracy skills that improve their education employment prospects.
