West Ham supports Football West Australia grassroots activity in Perth

West Ham United have demonstrated their support for a special grassroots activity in Perth, run by Football West Australia, ahead of the Club's pre-season tour to the city in July.

Football West is the sole governing body for football in Western Australia and represents all levels of competition, development and coaching in metropolitan and regional areas.

With over 230,000 players in the sport, Football West nurtures and encourages the next generation of players through pathways that have also been developed for coaches and match officials to pursue their dreams and aspirations.

Following the announcement of the Club’s pre-season tour in Perth, which will feature matches at Optus Stadium against Perth Glory and Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 15 July and Tuesday 18 July respectively, West Ham United Ambassador Carlton Cole visited a Football West Australia grassroots activation.

The activation featured over 100 children from the age of three to 16-years-old, with many of the young people coming from low-income backgrounds.

Carlton provided coaching advice and expertise to the young people, and encouraged them to pursue their dreams in order to reach the top.

He said: "It was great to be here at this Football West Australia activity to see so many young people in action.

"Our pre-season tour in Perth this July gives us an opportunity to speak to the community in this city. Our objective is to use football to make a positive impact to the lives of young people.

"We look forward to coming to Perth not only for two high-profile friendlies, but to really connect with the people in this city.

"Hopefully we can provide inspiration to their lives and support the great work that is being undertaken by Football West Australia.”
