Nayef Aguerd in training

Team News: Aguerd to return for Leicester City

David Moyes will have Nayef Aguerd available for selection again when his West Ham United team heads to Leicester City for Sunday’s Premier League season finale.

The Morocco centre-back was absent for last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Leeds United with a dead leg, but has recovered in time to be considered for the trip to King Power Stadium.

Aguerd played a key role in helping to secure the clean sheet which underpinned the Hammers’ progression to the UEFA Europa Conference League final with a 1-0 win at AZ Alkmaar and now he will want to end the league campaign in style.

The boss is likely to have a near fully-fit squad to choose from, with only Gianluca Scamacca (knee) a confirmed absentee.

Left-back Emerson is dealing with a knock too, but Moyes is hopeful he will form part of the squad on Sunday.

“Nayef is available for Sunday and he’s trained today (Friday),” Moyes confirmed. “We expect him to be back.

“He missed out against Leeds with a dead leg he picked up in the game on the Thursday at Alkmaar.

Emerson and Gianluca Scamacca

“Emerson had a knock to his knee and we just need to check how he is. He’s been out today but we’ll need to see how he is.”

The news was also positive around Scamacca, who has not featured in first team action since the Europa Conference League Round of 16 first leg win at AEK Larnaca due to a knee issue.

However, Moyes revealed that he is edging closer to a return to the training pitches.

“Gianluca Scamacca is still recovering from his knee operation,” the manager continued. “I don’t think he’s too far away now, but not quite close enough.

“He had his operation about four weeks ago and he’s still got a few weeks of rehab to do but hopefully he’ll be back ready at the start of pre-season.”
