Last Word: Antonio on Liverpool

Ahead of West Ham United’s Premier League fixture with Liverpool at London Stadium, Michail Antonio has the Last Word…

The dressing room is a really happy place at the moment. Obviously, it has been a long hard season but the win over AFC Bournemouth has really settled the boys.

Over the past few games, I think it has clicked overall. Our performances haven’t been the best this season and so we were frustrated by our start in the league.

But since the turn of the year we’ve improved a lot and our performances have really come on in recent weeks.

Bournemouth was a really good result. We had a great performance and game on Thursday, scoring four goals against Gent to reach the last four. And we took that into the game on Sunday against Bournemouth on Sunday too.

The next month could be unbelievable for the Club.

It's great to see everyone in and amongst the goals. Pablo’s finish was instinctive. It’s just dropped to him, and he’s pulled off a nice little scorpion kick!

I have always wanted to score a goal like that. Pablo did it against Bournemouth, but I am not ruling out an attempt from myself in the future!

Still, I was delighted to score the first goal and set the tone for the win. We had a look at their set pieces and saw that they concede a lot from them. And I just happened to be in the right place at the right time to turn it in.

People were talking about how we haven’t scored in the first 15 minutes, but I managed to score in the first five. We built on the win in Europe and we have to build on a win again.

It has not been the best season for us, but we are finding form and turning it on at the best time. But we have got to push on now and keep the momentum going.

That’s because the next month could be unbelievable. We’re in the semi-final of the UEFA Conference League and I think another win secures our place in the Premier League.

But we need to keep building on that momentum now against both Liverpool and Crystal Palace this week. We want to keep going, keep building momentum, and use a good run in the Premier League to reach a final too.
