Kmita: Ladies' performance deserved 6-0 victory

Hat-trick hero Rosie Kmita reckons the West Ham United Ladies found the performance they have been searching for in the 6-0 rout of Brislington.

The winger scored twice in the first half before completing her hat-trick with the final goal of the game, with Amber Stobbs, Kelly Wealthall and Molly Peters also getting on the scoresheet for the Hammers.

The result puts the Irons into the third round of the FA WPL Plate and was a completely deserved win for the Ladies, who controlled the tempo of the match in tricky conditions in Bristol.

And Kmita feels the big victory was exactly what the side needed after a disappointing 0-0 draw with Gillingham last time out, saying a reaction had to be shown after that result.

I feel like we really deserved that today. The entire side was so driven to win today; we worked really hard and we deserved it.

“I think we gave the performance we were looking for,” Kmita told whufc.com. “That was the main thing for us today. We let ourselves down in the last two matches to be honest, where we could have got results and we didn’t.

“We wanted to prove that we are good enough to be a part of this Club and give something back, and I think we did that with our performance today. We really reacted well and hopefully we’ve made the coaches happy.

“I feel like we really deserved that today. You could feel, before the game, that there was a different energy in this team. The entire side was so driven to win today; we worked really hard and we deserved it.”

Kmita was clearly delighted to have also netted her first hat-trick for West Ham United and the forward suggested the first finish put her on the right track, mentally, to get three in the match.

She continued: “I think a lot of players will agree with me when I say that once you’ve scored one goal, it’s like your mind-set changes. You remind yourself that you can score goals.

“Before today I’ve struggled to score consistently and that’s very hard, but it’s a confidence thing. That first finish boosted by confidence back up, and I had two before half-time. I wasn’t sure the third was going to come but I was delighted to grab it right at the end.

“We are absolutely buzzing. It’s so nice to have that winning feeling. Hopefully we can now take that into our next game in a couple of weeks.”
