Betway Insider's View of the Opposition: Chelsea
Chelsea arrive at the London Stadium in impressive form.
The Blues have won six of their last seven in the league, with the only exception being a creditable draw at Anfield.
But, as proven by their most recent defeat against Crystal Palace – before which the Eagles had lost seven in a row without scoring a single goal – Antonio Conte’s side are not immune from the occasional slip-up.
West Ham should be confident of giving the defending champions a difficult game, having pushed Manchester City – who look certain winners of this season’s title – all the way last weekend.
Chelsea have enjoyed a couple of thumping wins on the road already this season, with 4-0 triumphs at Stoke and West Brom games that were both wrapped up by half-time.
But such easy victories have been the exception, rather than the rule, of late.
The Blues have been level at the break in six of their last nine league encounters, though only one of those ultimately ended as a draw.
So, there’s plenty of value in backing a similar scenario whereby one side pulls ahead during the second half on Saturday.
Should that prove to be the case, then we’re likely to see late goals, as has been the case in the last five matches between these two sides.
Chelsea have scored a quarter of their league goals during the last 15 minutes of matches this season, while West Ham have conceded almost a third of theirs during the same period.
But, given the hosts have also scored after the 75th minute at home to Huddersfield, Tottenham and Swansea, don’t rule out the Hammers nicking a result themselves.
Cards also look a certainty, given there have been 37 yellows and a red in the last seven meetings between these two.
Particularly considering West Ham have received the joint-most bookings in the Premier League this season, while Chelsea have had more players sent off than any other side.
A full-blooded game that is tight until the end before being decided by some late drama, this promises to be everything a London derby should be.
