What’s the story?

West Ham United have the chance to reach the 40-point mark when they head to the Potteries to take on Stoke City on Saturday.

A three-match unbeaten run has brought Slaven Bilic’s team to within striking distance of the milestone and the boss will be keen to hit that first target with three Premier League games still to play.

A top-half finish is still on for the Hammers, as they sit just two points below Southampton in ninth, and one behind Saturday’s opponents in a congested mid-table zone.

Victory at the bet365 Stadium would take West Ham above the Potters and could mathematically secure the Club’s top flight spot.

The Hammers’ 1-0 win against Swansea City last month has been followed by draws against Sunderland and Everton as they put a five-game losing streak behind them, while Stoke have only won one of their last seven.

Last weekend, they fell to a 2-0 defeat at relegation-threatened Swansea City, as Fernando Llorente and Tom Carroll scored the goals.

The outcome might have been different had Marko Arnautovic scored his second half penalty, but his miss was followed swiftly by Carroll’s strike and there was no way back for the Potters.

That result left Mark Hughes’ side eleventh in the standings, with 39 points from 34 games – two places below their finishing position for the last three seasons.

Team news

Mark Noble returns from suspension to make the trip to the Potters, after sitting out the last two matches due to collecting ten yellow cards for the season.

Sam Byram is also back from a ban, which he had to serve for being sent off against Sunderland.

Sofiane Feghouli and Robert Snodgrass will hope to be involved after being sidelined by minor injuries last time out, but Andy Carroll remains out due to a groin problem picked up at the Stadium of Light.

Angelo Ogbonna (knee) and Pedro Obiang (ankle) continue to recover from their injuries.

The Potters hope to have Jon Walters fit following a knee injury, while Jack Butland returned in goal last time out after spending 13 months battling ankle problems.
