Appeal Imminent

West Ham are to appeal against the sending off of Paolo Di Canio in Sunday's league game with Chelsea.

Glenn Roeder said earlier in the week that an appeal would be considered subject to the contents of the referee's report, which has now been received at Upton Park.

MD Paul Aldridge confirms: "We are appealing against Paolo's sending off and will be putting the club's point of view across. We feel there is a case that he was harshly treated."

Many observers felt that it was Jody Morris, not Paolo, who should have been given a red card after he appeared to follow through when tackling him in the second half.

Tony Gale thinks there may be a case and says: "I thought the red card was harsh."

Meanwhile, there have been no further developments regarding Manchester United and Paolo Di Canio, and Paul says: "There has been no contact since the original bid was turned down."
